Toodles Tearoom
Colorado Springs, Colorado
The high tea at Toodles on June 21, 2025 was comparable to Brown’s in London, Bettys Cafe in York and Mackintosh at the Willow in Glasgow, with more selection than Oatlands near Leesburg, Virginia and an ambiance that rivals the English Rose in Carefree, Arizona which does not rival Toodles’ tea and food. With two dozen black teas and dozen each of rooibos and other herbal teas, anyone can sate their hankering for a British cuppa. The only lack on the menu was unflavored green and any white teas, but that was compensated by the tasty sweet mocktails.
Following the mocktails were a salad of greens, blueberries and strawberries with a delicate dressing and the best roasted tomato soup we’ve ever tasted. This was followed by the traditional tiered tea tray holding orange and blueberry scones, cucumber and whole wheat curried chicken, croissants stuffed with chicken salad, shortcake rounds dusted with powdered sugar, Earl Grey tea cake with flower-shaped lavender cream cheese frosting and a chocolate tart bite with graham cracker crust. Everything tasted excellent. If it wasn’t so close to the summer equinox with temperatures over 90°F and we had worn hats, we would take our hats off to Toodles Tearoom.
